As some of you may recall, we used to have a monthly spotlight for our favorite artists, and, well…we’ve been pretty terrible at it for some time now (our last spotlight was in 2015! Oops!). Our principal, Jessica Love is a self-proclaimed art fanatic and collector. It has been a dream to one day own an art gallery, in which she has the capability to curate her favorite artists… Until that day, we promise to post more ‘Featured Artist’ blogs. Jessica first discovered Elizabeth Carrington on a tour of Art on 5th, since, she has followed her every move on Instagram and can not wait to own a piece of her very own. It is our pleasure to introduce you to this fantastic artist!
Elizabeth Carrington is best known for her colorful, pop art paintings, public art, and textiles, all of which mix graffiti-style lettering, doodles and collage with graphic screen-printed imagery. Her pieces comment on dogmas and widely held beliefs in popular culture and pay homage to times of revolution and upheaval that move the needle of society’s moral compass. Her work is fun and whimsical yet often subversive, and is informed by her lifelong love of travel, music, the outdoors and action sports.
Check out her most recent interview with Sotheby’s Museum Network.
You can also find Elizabeth on social media; Instagram and Pinterest.
