Spring Cleaning Tips

Spring cleaning not only means giving your home a deep cleaning but de-cluttering and organizing your space to welcome the warmer seasons ahead. Relieve your senses and reinvigorate your space with these simple tips.

Focus
Focus on one room/space at a time. Don’t stop until one room is finished. Make sure everything has a place and everything is in its place! Go through one box, shelf, drawer, cabinet, closet at a time.

Organize Closets
An organized closet is the first step to organizing the rest of your home. Purge unused clothing and accessories, and organize the rest by how you dress for your day. Replace old wire dry cleaning hangers and plastic hangers with new velvet hangers that allow for a better use of space and keeps the shape of your garments. With a clean closet, your everyday routine becomes easier.

Reorganize Bookshelves
Sort books by size and subject, or color if you prefer. Line books, a few vertically, a few horizontally, in a recurring pattern to relieve the monotony of rows.

Purge the Clutter
There is no feeling like a clean, clutter free home! When in doubt, throw it out! When it comes to purging my favorite rule is if it has not been used in the last 6 months you don’t need it. Donate what you can, and take the rest to the dump.

File Paperwork
Create a file for each of the pieces of paper that tend to pile up around your home. IE, appliances information, tax information, check stubs, bill stubs, etc… This makes important items much easier to find and minimizes clutter.

Create a New Mood
Fast, easy changes can come with bedding, towels, throw pillows, table linens and accessories. Switch pieces out seasonally, for a special event or whenever you want to play with a trending color.
